IHG PointBreaks Hotels + 100% Bonus on Purchased Points = Very Cheap Award Nights

It’s great news when the new IHG PointBreaks Hotel list comes out at the same time IHG is having a 100% bonus on points purchased! This deal on IHG points expires on November 3, though. With IHG PointBreaks, award nights at certain IHG hotels are only 5,000 IHG points. This is the best way to stretch those IHG points into many more hotel stays. You’re able to book these hotels from Monday, October 30, 2017, for stays through January 31, 2018. If you have any travel plans over the holiday season definitely check this list and see if any of these PointBreaks hotels fit your plans. And remember, the best hotels sell out very quickly!

Purchase IHG Points Before November 3 to Earn a 100% Bonus

IHG is at it again! These kinds of double your points purchased, or 100% more points, are the best possible deals. I’m a new Chase IHG Rewards Club Credit Card holder, so these kinds of sales definitely get my attention. A 100% bonus on at least 5,000 points purchased… yes, thank you! You’ll recall that I got matched to the better Chase IHG Rewards Club Credit Card offer when I sent Chase a Secure Message (SM), and then got some great ideas from you all about which IHG properties to use my points at. I’m done meeting my minimum spending on that credit card. Between those points and flash sales on IHG points like this one, I’m all set to make next year an IHG one!

PSA: Be Careful When Modifying Existing IHG Hotel Bookings

With two solid IHG Accelerate Offers this year, IHG has once again become my go-to hotel chain. It helps that I’ve also pretty much given up on maintaining hotel status. Since the IHG Q3 promotion just launched a couple of weeks ago, I’ve been front loading my stays so I don’t have to scramble like I did at the last minute for the Q2 promotion. Now, for the word of warning…

I had originally booked a one night stay for four people near Milan’s Malpensa Airport (MXP) due to early morning flights. At the last minute, it turned out that our group size decreased by one. In Europe especially, it is very common for hotels to charge an additional fee for more than two adults staying in the same room. In this case of the Holiday Inn Express MXP, it’s a whopping 20 Euros per person, per night extra. Clearly, we didn’t want to pay that extra fee for the guest who was no longer going to be staying with us in the hotel!

Which Hotels Should I Book with my 100,000 IHG Points?

As a new Chase IHG Credit Card holder, and having had success in being matched to the better offer of 100,000 points, I’m excited because now the real fun begins. How do I spend all those points I’ll acquire?! As a Hyatt and SPG loyalist, I had some research to do about the IHG brand, so I’ve been studying up on IHG. There are 10 hotel brands within IHG, with more than 5,000 hotels in over 100 countries. That’s a lot of choices #colormeconfused, I need your help!
