Review: Taste of Turkey Gift Box from the World of Hyatt

Did you catch the offer from World of Hyatt called Try The World? Hyatt wants to “connect us to the people, places and experiences at the heart of our world.” Their Try The World concept involves a “box of the month” filled with foods and ingredients from all across a specific country. I decided to give this Try The World a go, and ordered the first three boxes. The total cost was $105, so that’s $35 a box. I’ve never subscribed to a box of the month club before!

For the first month, the country Hyatt chose was France (read the gift box review here). When I opened this month’s box featuring Turkey, I realized I still really loved the box the goodies arrive in. I love the colors, the creative artwork, and the packaging. All very stylish and classy.

Bye Bye Paper! United Airlines Club Passes Have Gone Digital

You might recall from a few months ago that I went to the San Diego Airport to gift my expiring United Airlines Club passes to two lucky people who just happened to be in the right place at the right time. It was a fun way to spend a few hours, and it mostly went smoothly! Looks like United Airlines has gone the digital route with these club passes as of November 2017.

Here’s the letter I received. You’ll notice that United will now be automatically adding these passes to our accounts within four weeks of our Chase United MileagePlus Credit Card anniversary date.

Purchase IHG Points Before November 3 to Earn a 100% Bonus

IHG is at it again! These kinds of double your points purchased, or 100% more points, are the best possible deals. I’m a new Chase IHG Rewards Club Credit Card holder, so these kinds of sales definitely get my attention. A 100% bonus on at least 5,000 points purchased… yes, thank you! You’ll recall that I got matched to the better Chase IHG Rewards Club Credit Card offer when I sent Chase a Secure Message (SM), and then got some great ideas from you all about which IHG properties to use my points at. I’m done meeting my minimum spending on that credit card. Between those points and flash sales on IHG points like this one, I’m all set to make next year an IHG one!

American Express Business Platinum Charge Card: Did you Notice the Increase in Coverage for High Risk Items?

While reviewing my American Express Business Platinum Charge Card statement last night, I noticed an update to the program terms. Effective immediately, American Express has INCREASED their coverage amount for high risk items from $250 to $1,000. There is no additional charge for this benefit as it’s part of the benefits of the card under the Baggage Insurance Plan. It’s nice when a benefit is increased or added to a card. High risk items include computers, jewelry, and furs. Unfortunately, this plan update excludes people living in Indiana, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Northern Mariana Islands.

Hawaiian Airlines Winter Sale Ends Tomorrow! Fares Starting at $397 Roundtrip

It used to be that any roundtrip fare under $300 from the west coast to Hawaii was an amazing deal. That dates me, for sure. Then it was any RT fare under $350 was “the deal”. Now it’s a fare under $400 that gets you thinking about jumping on board and heading to the islands. There are three times of the year I think are best to get away to Hawaii. Crowds have thinned out and prices have come down. This sale speaks to one of those times: after the New Year and before spring break. The good deals are mainly from the west coast cities to Maui and Oahu.
