Uber is Cheap and Easy in Panama City and Lima

Good morning everyone, greetings from Cuzco, Peru.  I’m on my way toward Machu Picchu today, but I wanted to share my experience with Uber in Panama City, Panama, and Lima, Peru.  First things first, the US Dollar is one of the primary currencies of Panama and is on par with the Panamanian Balboa.  This makes it easy to calculate how much things cost, including Uber.

Trip Advice for Central and South America: Panama City, Lima & Cusco

Good morning everyone, happy Friday!  I am about to embark on a week-long trek around Central and South America and I want some trip advice.  Here is my itinerary with a 23 hour layover in Panama City (PTY), 2 full days in Lima (LIM), and 3 full days in Cusco (CUZ).  If you have been to any of those cities, what do you recommend that I see or do while I am there?

Upcoming Changes to Platinum Destinations Vacations Benefit for American Express Platinum Cardholders

Good morning everyone, I just received my latest American Express Platinum Charge Card statement and noticed a small change to the card benefits.  If you have one of the many American Express Platinum versions, you have a ton of cardmember benefits, all listed on the Platinum benefits page.  One such benefit that has rarely, probably never, been mentioned is the Platinum Destinations Vacations benefit.  By booking a vacation package through American Express, you will receive bonus American Express Membership Reward Points based on the cost of your vacation package.  The bonus structure for booking vacation packages is changing, effective June 1, 2016.

Guest Post from Shelli: There’s more to Ireland than just Guinness

Good morning everyone, I hope your weekend is off to a great start.  My friend Shelli is a personal health and fitness blogger at Joy In Movement and she recently returned from a trip to Ireland.  We were emailing on St. Patrick’s Day and she mentioned that several other travel bloggers were talking about Ireland and Guinness.  After a few emails back and forth, she wanted to write a quick guest post about her trip to Ireland.  Take it away Shelli…

St. Patrick’s Day was a few days ago, so let’s leave the Guinness behind us, only for a moment, and focus on all the other wonderful sites, restaurants, coffee, day trips, and hotel options for making your Dublin visit a success!  Having just spent 9 days in Dublin, I can certainly vouch for it as a great city to visit and here are my top reasons why.

It’s an amazing city for those of us who like to walk and get out of touristy areas.

Phoenix Park is a wonderful destination.  It’s the world’s largest enclosed municipal park and it’s filled with monuments like the Papal Cross, the Dublin Zoo, gardens and lots of open spaces and views of the city.  After you leave Phoenix Park, it’s an easy walk back into town to the Guinness Storehouse for your tour and free pint!

Recap: 3 Spring Training Baseball Games in 27 Hours (Dodgers & Angels Stadiums)

Good morning everyone, happy St. Patrick’s Day!  Even though I am still recovering from my sunburn last weekend, I wanted to share some pics of my quick trip to Phoenix to watch a few Spring Training games.  If you haven’t already, please read my first Spring Training post and the comments: Spring Training Major League Baseball Games – Advice for a Rookie.  After looking at the Spring Training game schedule, I decided to go to 2 Angels games and 1 Dodgers game.

After looking for hotels close to the Angels stadium (Tempe Diablo Stadium), I settled on the Sheraton Phoenix Airport Hotel Tempe.  When I originally booked the stay, the cost was 3,000 SPG points for weekend nights (4,000 SPG points for weekday nights).  The hotel has since increased to 7,000 SPG points per night.  I am an SPG Gold Elite Member and was given access to the Club Lounge on the 4th floor.  The lounge is very small (8-10 small tables) and the food goes fast.  I recommend going to breakfast early before all the breakfast food is gone.

From the hotel, it is about a 25 minute walk to the Tempe Diablo Stadium.  You do need to cross over a freeway and walk through a cemetery, but the walk is nice.  If you have lots of Marriott points available, you could stay at the super conveniently located Phoenix Marriott Tempe at the Buttes for 35,000 Marriott points per night.
