How to Use Home Depot Store Credit for Online Purchases

Good morning everyone, I hope you had a great weekend.  Long story short, I bought a few things at Home Depot, forgot to return them within the standard return period, and ended up with $175.86 in Home Depot store credit.  I figured Home Depot store credit would be easy to use, like a regular Home Depot gift card, but boy was I wrong.  I ran into the issue when I tried to buy some outdoor patio furniture slipcovers online.  When I entered the Home Depot store credit information into the gift card payment field, I got an error message saying “We’re sorry. Home Depot store credit can only be used in stores. Please use a different payment method.”  Dang, Home Depot took “store credit” very literally.  After some persistence and a visit to my local Home Depot store, I was able to use my Home Depot store credit for an online purchase.  Keep reading to learn more.

Last Day to Register for FTU Virtual Seminar on Saturday, August 28 ($25) or Free with Online Annual Membership

Good afternoon everyone, happy Friday.  If you have no plans tomorrow (Saturday, August 28), I highly recommend attending the FTU Virtual Seminar (tickets available for $25) or free if you have the FTU Online Annual Membership.  The seminar starts on Saturday, August 28 at 8am PT / 11am ET.  I have attended all of the FTU Virtual Seminars over the last several months and they are always well done, educational, and entertaining – and I am sure this seminar will be no exception!  Here is the schedule and lineup of speakers.

If you register for the seminar on Saturday, but are unable to watch the live stream, you can access the recording of the seminar and watch later on.  This is also a great way to re-watch your favorite presentations and catch any details that you originally missed.

Good afternoon everyone, happy Friday!  I was working on my Buy Miles & Points Page and found 5 offers that are ending this month.  Always check the math to make sure that buying miles & points makes sense for you.  Do not buy miles & points speculatively unless you have a use in mind.  With that said, here are 5 offers that end soon.  Up first, Avianca Airlines is offering up to a 135% bonus, depending on the number of Avianca Airlines LifeMiles you purchase.  This offer expires today – August 27.

Victim of Recent T-Mobile Data Breach? Freeze your 3 Credit Reports Right Away

Good afternoon everyone.  If you are an existing, former, or potential future T-Mobile customer, you may have heard about the massive data breach affecting ~53 million customers.  Depending on your current relationship with T-Mobile, your name, date of birth, social security number, driver’s license number, telephone number, and mobile device information may have been stolen by hackers.  After your data is stolen in a data breach, there is really nothing you can do to get that information back (it is out in the universe forever), but you can protect yourself and your finances by freezing your 3 credit reports with Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion (read this post on steps to freeze your credit reports).  The only thing T-Mobile has said so far is that “T-Mobile’s response includes offering two years of free identity-theft protection software to customers whose data was compromised.”
