New AMEX Offers: KLM $200 Off $1,000, Hilton Garden Inn $40 Off $200, a Few Others

Good morning everyone.  It’s been a while since I last reported on AMEX Offers.  The offers have just been so bad for the last few weeks that it wasn’t even worth mentioning.  The streak has been broken with 2 pretty good travel offers.  The first is from KLM, where you can get a $200 statement credit for spending $1,000 or more on KLM flights.  The only cash back portal that has KLM is Ebates (they are offering 1% cash back for KLM flights).  The second offer is from Hilton Garden Inn, where you can get a $40 statement credit after spending $200 or more.  iConsumer is offering 3.2% cash back for Hilton Garden Inn.  This offer is not valid at any other Hilton properties and the total stay charge must be higher than $200 to trigger the statement credit.

Upcoming US Bank FlexPerks Visa/AMEX Credit Card Changes to “Grocery”; FlexPoints Purchase & Transfer Limits

Good morning everyone.  After a busy morning of paying credit card bills, I spotted a few changes to the terms on my US Bank FlexPerks Visa Signature Credit Card and US Bank FlexPerks AMEX Credit Card.  The changes to the terms are identical for both credit cards.

On March 1, 2016, US Bank is going to change the 2x bonus category from “grocery” to “grocery stores.”  I’m not sure if this is going to be a big deal, but I assume this change will reduce the number of merchants that qualify as “grocery” (aka Target and other merchants).

Good morning everyone.  I just checked my American Express account and spotted a few new AMEX Offers.  None of these offers are amazing, but the offers could save you a few bucks if you were planning on making a purchase at any of these merchants:

American Express Serve Card Bulk Account Shutdowns / Terminations

Black Friday!  No, not the busiest shopping day of the year, but the day AMEX Serve sent out mass account closure emails with the subject line “Termination Of Funds Loading Capabilities on Your Serve® Account.”  My account was flagged due to “observed unusual usage patterns.”  I will explain what I was doing below, but here is what my email looks like:

AMEX Serve Discontinues International ATM Access and a few New AMEX Offers (Hilton Hotels & Others)

Good morning everyone from raining San Francisco.  I just received an email from AMEX Serve that effective immediately, you will not be able to use your AMEX Serve Card at international ATMs.  No heads up from American Express = not good customer service.  Hopefully no one brought their AMEX Serve Card with them on an international trip.
