How to Easily Cancel your Google Express Free Trial or Membership

Good afternoon everyone.  A few months ago, LivingSocial had a deal where you could get a free 6 month membership and $20 in credit for Google Express for the cost of $5.  I saw the offer as a great way to get $15 of free stuff from Google Express and jumped at the offer.  Like all good things, the free 6 month membership came to an end, but thankfully Google sent me an email yesterday letting me know that my first monthly payment was scheduled to go through on November 19.  They also provided a helpful link at the bottom of the email with steps to cancel my Google Express membership.

Amazon Prime Now Restaurants: $10 Off $20 First Order + Free Delivery (Select Cities)

Good morning everyone, greetings from rainy San Francisco.  Yesterday, I received a postcard in the mail for a new service called Amazon Restaurants.  I almost threw the postcard away, but then I looked more closely at it and saw that it said $10 off your first order using promo code DINELOCAL10.  I decided to check it out and place a dummy booking to see what the ordering process was like.  To see if your home or work zipcode is in an Amazon Restaurant city, click here and type in your zipcode.  Apparently this service is only available to Amazon Prime members, so if you are not a Amazon Prime member, you can sign up for a 30 day free trial.

Introduction to San Francisco Bay BART Perks Test Program

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend.  Hat tip to my friend Esther for telling me about the BART Perks program.  This program is only available to BART customers with a Clipper Card.  All of the information mentioned below came from the BART Perks FAQ PDF and all the screenshots came from my account.  I will summarize everything you need to know about BART Perks, but if you have any questions, please check the PDF for more information.

First things first, to join BART Perks, please click here to create your free account.  You will receive 250 points and start at gold status (more info on points and status below).  BART Perks is a 6 month test program to explore new ways to reduce train crowding during peak morning hours.  Riders earn points for every trip on BART and those points can be exchanged for small cash rewards or used to play a Spin to Win game for the chance to win additional points or cash rewards up to $100.  The BART Perks test program will end on February 2017 and the future of the program will be evaluated at that point.

FTU Advanced Orange County (October 28-30) and Seattle (February 24-26)

Good morning everyone, I hope your weekend is going well.  We are only 1 week away from FTU Advanced in Orange County (October 28-30).  FTU stands for Frequent Traveler University and is a travel conference with your favorite travel bloggers from Boarding Area and beyond.  I will be attending the conference, but I am not presenting.  I am flying down from SFO on Friday night after work, so I won’t be able to attend the Friday night happy hour (someone, please drink for me).  I am staying at home, not at the host hotel (The Westin South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa), but I will be at the conference all day Saturday and Sunday.  I will be wearing my classic Travel with Grant shirt (much to the chagrin of Devil’s Advocate).  If you see me, don’t be afraid to say hello :)

US Bank Cash Plus: Determine Cash Back at Restaurants (2%) & Fast Food (5%)

Good morning everyone, greetings from Maui.  I just wanted to share a little trick I learned recently regarding my US Bank Cash Plus (Cash+) Credit Card.  On my recent credit card statement, I saw 3 different line items for “Rewards Dollars Earned” (aka cash back), but I wanted to get a little more information regarding which transactions qualified for bonus cash back.

As a reminder, US Bank allows you to select two 5% cash back categories and one 2% cash back category every quarter.  For Q3 (July, August, & September), I selected Fast Food and Movie Theaters for my 5% categories and Restaurants for my 2% category.  For Q4 (October, November, & December), I selected Fast Food and Electronics Stores for my 5% categories and Restaurants for my 2% category.  I wanted to see which purchases counted as restaurants (2% cash back) vs. fast food (5% cash back).  If you selected different categories, you can follow the same steps below to identify qualifying purchases for your bonus categories.
