I have spent the last few hours lounging around at a Priority Pass lounge in San Salvador, El Salvador (SAL) and I need to get on a plane to Lima, Peru (LIM) and then to La Paz, Bolivia (LPB). I’m not sure if this is interesting to anyone else (maybe just Will at Doctor of Credit), but when I logged into my Citi online account, I spotted my new Citi Thank You Preferred Credit Card above my Citi Forward Credit Card.
Good morning everyone, happy Friday! By the time you read this post, I will be flying down to La Paz, Bolivia for the start of my Central / South America trip. A few weeks ago, I booked a flight for my brother to Maui, Hawaii. The flight is in mid April and the cost of the ticket was kind of pricey ($500+), but luckily I found United Airlines award space for the flights he wanted. Unfortunately, United Airlines charges 45,000 miles + $11.20 in taxes/fees for a roundtrip flight in economy. Luckily, Singapore Airlines only charges 35,000 miles for the same roundtrip flight in economy to Hawaii. In this post, I will show you how I easily booked an award ticket for my brother using Singapore Airlines miles and how adding him as a redemption nominee made the process even easier.
One of the questions I get most often about the Citi Prestige Credit Card and how the 4th night free benefit works is about how long it takes for that 4th night free credit to post to my credit card account. It used to take a long time! And the only way I knew it posted was to check my account statement. But along with speeding up the process for sending confirmations when I book hotel nights, Citi has also gotten better and quicker about communicating when the 4th night credits will post.
My stay was on September 27 and the email below came on October 9. According to the email, the credit will post within 10 days. I’d say that’s pretty fast and way better than it used to be.

Good morning everyone. A few days ago, I received the following letter from Citi regarding my Citi Forward Credit Card. The letter was similar to the letter posted on Doctor of Credit, but mine did not include a targeted spending offer. I reached out to Citi on Twitter and asked if they could match me to the targeted offer. Long story short, I spoke to a member of the Citi social media team and we went through a few options. I will share what my long term plan is regarding the Citi Forward Credit Card conversion into the Citi Thank You Preferred Credit Card and share my plans for some of my other Citi credit cards. This post isn’t about Black Friday, but if you have a Citi Forward Credit Card, you might want to read this post. Citi is sending out letters informing Citi Forward Credit Card holders that their credit card is going to be converted to a Citi Thank Your Preferred Credit Card on January 9, 2018. Most people do not have Citi Forward Credit Cards (Citi has not allowed applications for several years), but it used to be an awesome credit card… 5x Citi Thank You Points (TYPs) for Amazon, entertainment and restaurant purchases, but back in June 2016, Citi changed the 5x TYP categories to 2x TYP categories and the credit card became worth much less than before. The best feature of the current version of the Citi Forward Credit Card is that you get 100 TYPs when you pay your credit card bill. That bonus is ending, but the 2x TYP categories are staying about the same.
