Citi Thank You Premier Credit Card Holders: Some Gas Purchases Not Earning 3x TYPs

Good morning everyone.  I received the following email from Citi yesterday regarding my Citi Thank You Premier Credit Card.  That credit card is supposed to earn 3x Thank You Points (TYPs) on all travel and gas purchases, but some gas purchases made at convenience stores did not code as 3x purchases.  According to the email, if you made a gas purchase at a convenience store between November 15, 2015 and July 21, 2017, you only earned 1x.  To remedy the situation, Citi is crediting the missing TYPs to your October 2017 Citi Thank You Premier Credit Card statement.

My 2017 American Airlines AAdvantage Status Challenge

Hi everyone.  This is just a short post to share my American Airlines AAdvantage Status Challenge with you.  I’ve gone from Platinum in 2015, to Gold in 2016 to nada this year.  I purposefully fell short of re-qualifying for Gold this year in hopes of doing this status challenge and now I’m $86 Elite Qualifying Dollars (EQDs) short of completing it thanks to just 1 flight purchased with my Citi Thank You Points.

This status challenge was not targeted.  I just called AAdvantage and asked them for a challenge so they offered me 2 different challenges, 1 for Gold and 1 for Platinum, each with the option to pay extra to have the status during the challenge.  Below is the breakdown of the 4 options that I had to choose from followed by my reasoning for the option that I chose.

Singapore Airlines Partner Award Chart for Alaska Airlines Flights (Sweet Spots to Hawaii, Canada & Mexico)

Buenos dias everyone. As first reported by Scott at Travel Codex, Singapore Airlines’s Krisflyer loyalty program has released a partner award chart for flights on Alaska Airlines. It seems confusing at first, but once you understand the full picture, it makes more sense.

Alaska’s route map is split into five zones:

  • Zone 1: West Coast
  • Zone 2: Mountain West and Canada
  • Zone 3: Midwest
  • Zone 4: East Coast, Southeast, Cuba, Costa Rica, and Mexico
  • Zone 5: Alaska and Hawaii

Unboxing My New Metal Citi Prestige Credit Card

Happy Unboxing Saturday, everyone! I received a black book-sized package in the mail and left it sitting around for a few days. It was non-descript, so I had no idea what it was… until today. It was my new metal Citi Prestige Credit Card! I had totally forgotten that Citi was replacing the plastic ones.

My Citi Prestige Credit Card Saved Me $1,000+ this Year with the 4th Night Free Benefit

Since the Citi Prestige Credit Card just went through some benefit changes, everyone who has the credit card is in assessment mode as to whether or not they’ll keep the credit card. And those who don’t have the credit card are considering whether it’s still worth getting. Even before the changes in benefits were announced, I had planned on writing about the credit card and why, for me, it’s been a keeper… and still is!

I was early on board with this credit card, originally thinking I’d primarily use it for the free rounds of golf and American Airlines Admirals Club access. And maybe the 4th night free hotel benefit. Turns out, I never used the free rounds of golf (which is no longer a benefit), though I did use the American Airlines Admirals Club access from time to time. The real surprise for me was how often I used the 4th night free hotel perk and how much money I saved. Let me get specific!
