Hyatt 40% Bonus on Purchased Points (Expires May 23)

Whether or not you buy hotel points when promotions are running, it’s good to know your options. We all like to travel more for less! Topping up accounts for an upcoming stay can serve us well when we can get more value from the cost of the stays then we spend on buying those points. I use up my Hyatt points way faster than I drink my flat whites, so I keep a list of hotel point promos handy to see if they’ll work for me.

Currently, Hyatt is running their buy points promotions. Depending on your travel plans this might be worth checking out.

Music to My Ears, But Not in a Hotel Lobby

I spend quite a bit of time in hotel lobbies. Yes, sometimes in them and sometimes just walking through them. This past week I saw something strange in a hotel lobby and I can’t decide how I feel about it. I’m curious what you think. I was staying at a Hyatt Place, which I’d describe as a nicer than average Hyatt Place. In the evening from my room I could hear cello music. It was between 8 and 9 PM. Then the next night I was in the rear lobby area eating a dinner salad and I heard cello music. As I walked past the front desk, there in the main entry way where there are a few seats and a table, was the cello player. He had some kind of recorded music apparatus playing a classical music song and he was practicing his cello part. This just struck me as so odd.

Hyatt Carmel Highlands Timeshare Vacation Package ($299 for 4 Days / 3 Nights + 10,000 Hyatt Points)

Updated 3:45pm PT on 5/1/2018: I booked the timeshare vacation package and paid the $200 down payment.  Scroll to the bottom of the post to see more details.

Good afternoon everyone, I seem to be the king of getting timeshare vacation package offers (Westin and Wyndham).  I just got this offer from Hyatt for 4 days / 3 nights at the Hyatt Residence Club Carmel Highlands Inn.  I love Carmel and Monterey Bay, so this offer grabbed my attention instantly.  The cost is only $299 and includes 10,000 Hyatt points (worth ~$150 to me), so this offer seems like a no brainer.  There is no unique offer code, so anyone can call in and get this offer.  You must purchase by May 15 (2 weeks from now), but you have 12 months to complete your stay.  You must also attend a 90-120 minute timeshare presentation, but don’t let that discourage you.  Timeshare presentations are simple, just don’t buy anything.

Chase Hyatt Visa Credit Card Offers (Live Now Through July 31)

Good afternoon everyone, I just received the following email from Hyatt.  Chase, Hyatt, and Visa have teamed up to create Hyatt Credit Card Offers (not a very original name).  The platform is the same platform that was built for Marriott and Chase Slate.  According to the email, Hyatt Credit Card Offers is currently available and will run through July 31.  Strange that they would have an end date in mind, but they could extend it if the product is successful and popular.  To get started, click here and have your Chase Hyatt Credit Card available.

Poll: Would you Spend 450,000 Hyatt Points for a South African Safari Package?

Good morning everyone, I hope your weekend is going well.  I received this screenshot from a reader who participated in a Hyatt survey.  For this survey, Hyatt wanted to know if you would redeem 450,000 Hyatt points for a 5 night South African safari package ($3,500 retail value per person).  Personally, I do not have 450,000 Hyatt points or 450,000 Chase Ultimate Reward Points, so this option is totally out of my league, but let’s give this redemption a look.  $3,500 / 450,000 points = 0.78 cents per point, which is pretty low for Hyatt points.  Also, 450,000 Hyatt points could get you 15 nights at top tier category 7 hotels (30,000 Hyatt points per night) or 18 nights at category 6 hotels (25,000 Hyatt points per night).  You could also get 90 nights at a budget category 1 hotel (only 5,000 Hyatt points per night).
