Good afternoon everyone, Q4 is among us. With that, comes new cash back categories for Chase Freedom, Citi Dividend, and Discover It credit card holders. Let’s go through the list of categories really quickly, starting with the Citi Dividend Credit Card: 5% cash back at Best Buy and department stores. Most people will probably buy Visa Gift Cards at Best Buy. I would also like to mention that you can often buy department store gift cards for much more than a 5% discount by shopping on Gift Card Granny. Macy’s gift cards are 10%+ discounted, Sears gift cards are 6%+ discounted, and Kmart gift cards are 7%+ discounted.

New AMEX Offers: Amazon (Highly Targeted), Reebok, Lucille’s BBQ and More
Good morning everyone, TGI Friday! Doctor of Credit is reporting a *highly targeted* Amazon AMEX Offer is available to some cardholders. I checked all my AMEX cards and did not have the offer linked to any of my cards (typical of highly targeted offers). However, I did have the following AMEX Offers linked to my AMEX cards: Reebok, Lucille’s BBQ, Raymour & Flanigan, Rebecca Taylor, and J.McLaughlin.
Reader Appreciation Day: Giveaway for 3 $10 Amazon eGift Cards
Update 9:50pm PT 8/2/2015: After carefully reviewing all the responses, these are my 3 winners. Reasons: I love Taylor Swift, I love when people try to teach their spouses about MS, and I love Australia (even though I have never been). Thank you to everyone who commented on this post. Have a great evening!
- Elena: Taylor Swift concert at Levi’s stadium! I’ve bought tickets since day 1 in December 2014 and have been waiting and waiting. And now it will finally be here! I’m like a little girl that can’t control her excitement and have no shame admitting I like her and her songs.
- James: I’m looking forward to teaching my wife more about MS’ing so she can help me!
- Marc: Looking forward to a trip to Tasmania to see some college friends for the first time in a decade and then to Sydney/Cairns as a gift for my brother’s 30th bday party
Good morning everyone, I hope your weekend is going well. With the end of July a few days ago, I wanted to take a look at my site stats and see how things are going. I finished off July with a few good posts and ended up with 104,909 total page views for the month. That is a pretty good finish, but there is always room to grow. Thank you to my long time readers for coming back day after day to my blog, I really appreciate each and every one of you.
An American Express Credit Card can Make/Save Over $300 from AMEX Offers in One Year
(Hat Tip to Noah @ Money Metagame for the idea)
Good morning from beautiful Scottsdale, Arizona. I am staying at the $80/night Hyatt Place in Scottsdale after an exciting day at the Phoenician Hotel and Resort for the First2Board PHX Sessions. This morning, I was reading Money Metagame’s article and it got me thinking… how much money have I made/saved using AMEX Offers on 1 AMEX card over the last 12 months? If you log into your American Express account, click AMEX Offers For You, and click My Savings, you will see all the enrolled offers that you participated in. I think this list may exclude AMEX Sync Offers, so take that into consideration if you don’t see all your offers. Here is what I bought and the profit ($/%) per AMEX Offer:
- Office Depot: $50 Amazon Gift Card = $10 savings (20% free)
- Whole Foods: $75 loaded to my Clipper Card = $10 savings (13.3% free)
- Home Depot: $75 Panera Bread Gift Card = $15 savings (20% free)
- SamsClub.com: $20 Sams Club Gift Card = $20 savings (100% free)
- Smart & Final: 3 x $50 Southwest Airlines Gift Card = $75 savings (50% free)
Upcoming Meetups and Travel Conferences (July 23 through December 6)
Good morning everyone, happy Amazon Prime Day! I couldn’t sleep last night, so I bought a new AmazonBasics 12-Sheet High-Security Micro-Cut Shredder at 3am and then I read Doctor of Credit’s post about Amazon eGift Cards on sale and bought those too. If you do purchase anything today, please consider using my Amazon affiliate link. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Happy 20th birthday Amazon!
Anyway, with the recent news about FTU Advanced Newport Beach, I thought I would list all the meetups and travel conferences that I will be attending throughout the end of the year. These are in chronological order and there may/may not be tickets left to purchase.
Let’s start with a local meetup in San Francisco. This group is relative new, but the turnout of 30-50 people is impressive. They have formal presentations once a month and then breakout discussions afterwards. The organizers of this meetup are very passionate and knowledgeable.
- Where: San Francisco, California (Meetup page)
- When: Thursday, July 23 @ 7PM
