First Ever Capital One Travel Sale: Up to $200 Off Flights & Up to 20% Off Hotels (October 10 Only)

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend.  It was great weather in San Francisco over the weekend and the US Navy Blue Angels were in town as part of San Francisco’s Fleet Week.  In case you have the “Travel Fever,” Capital One is launching their first ever Travel Sale tomorrow (starting at 12:00am PT on October 10).  If you have an eligible Capital One Credit Card (like the Capital One Venture X Credit Card or Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card), you are eligible to participate.  Here is the Capital One Travel Sale landing page and countdown timer.  I crunched the numbers and there are 45 hotel deals with a total savings up to $1,155 and 40 flight deals with a total savings up to $4,250.

Yearly Reminder: Max Out 10% Citi ThankYou Points Rebate on Citi Rewards+ Credit Card (10K Annual Limit)

Good afternoon everyone, happy Friday!  I wrote a similar post in 2022 and thought I should publish a similar reminder post for 2023.  One of my favorite sock drawer credit cards is the Citi Rewards+ Credit Card.  This credit card has a pretty decent sign up bonus at the moment (20,000 Citi ThankYou Points after spending $1,500 in 3 months), but my favorite feature of this credit card is the 10% rebate on redeemed Citi ThankYou Points.  You can receive up to 10,000 Citi ThankYou Points rebated each calendar year, you just need to redeem at least 100,000 Citi ThankYou Points in a calendar year.

So why am I reminding you about this today?  The 10% rebate posts to your Citi ThankYou Points account when your statement closes.  If your statement closes on or after January 1, that will count toward your 2024 calendar year 10,000 Citi ThankYou Point limit.  Therefore, you probably only have 1 or 2 more statements between now and December 31, 2022.  I will show you how to calculate how many rebated Citi ThankYou Points you have already received this year.

American Express Business Gold Card Changes: New 4X Categories, $240 Flexible Business Credit & Walmart+ Subscription

Good afternoon everyone, I hope your week is going well.  I just noticed that the American Express Business Gold Card made some changes to their 4x AMEX Membership Rewards Points earning categories, added a $240 Flexible Business Credit ($20 / month at either FedEx, Grubhub, or at office supply stores), and is offering a $12.95 / month credit to offset the $12.95 / month Walmart+ Subscription.  Let’s go through these changes so you can see if these new benefits are useful.  You can see these benefits on the Benefits tab in your AMEX online account.  Let’s look at the 4x categories first.

2 PSAs: Lowe’s Lowest Price Guarantee (Price Match) via Online Chat & Limit of 5 Gift Cards per Online Order

Good afternoon everyone, I hope your week is going well.  Last weekend, Laura and I decided to get a refrigerator for our garage.  After looking at a few options at our local Lowe’s store, we decided to buy the Frigidaire Garage-Ready 18.3-cu ft Top-Freezer Refrigerator (Stainless Steel).  The dimensions, price, and awesome reviews made the decision easy.  The refrigerator was on sale for $799, but I decided to double check the price on Home Depot to see if it was cheaper.  Much to my surprise, the same refrigerator (Frigidaire 30 in. 18.3 cu. ft. Top Freezer Refrigerator in Stainless Steel) was on sale for $718, a difference of $81.

I had a few Lowe’s gift cards that I purchased at a discount and Lowe’s was offering 3% cash back for appliances last weekend via online shopping portals, so I wanted to order through the Lowe’s website, but I wanted to have Lowe’s match Home Depot’s price.  In this post, I will show you how to the Lowe’s price match process worked and the 5 gift card limit per online order I encountered.

What New Features or Benefits would make InKind Even Better?

Good afternoon everyone.  InKind has made several improvements over the months since I first started using the app in November 2022. I am a big fan of their referral program, the ability to split the bill into 25%, 33%, 50%, 66%, and 75% portions makes going out to dinner with others much easier, the introduction of the InKind Rewards program with targeted challenges, the ability to share / transfer / gift your InKind balance to other members, and their latest AMEX Offer where you can try the InKind Pass free for a year.  With all those great features, I am sure there is still much room to grow.

In terms of new features I would like to see, I would love the ability to pay the tip portion of the bill with InKind credits (I would probably tip a larger percentage) and the addition of more restaurants that are on the InKind platform.  Some cities have many InKind restaurants available, while other cities have only 1-2 choices.

I also have some pretty far-fetched ideas for InKind…
