3 Bay Area Meetup Events between February 15-20 (Super Duper Burger, WeWork & In-N-Out)

Good morning everyone.  Yesterday, I flew from Dublin to San Francisco (DUB-SFO) on Aer Lingus in economy (gasp!) and I am getting back to my usual postings.  I am excited to announce a few new Bay Area meetup events for the near future.

For President’s Day Weekend (and Valentine’s Day), I will be taking the California Zephyr‎ Amtrak from Denver to Emeryville (Oakland/SF) with a few travel hacker friends from Denver/Boulder (creators of the Front Range Travel Hackers Meetup Group).  They wanted to do a little meetup on President’s Day (February 15), so if anyone is in SF and wants to talk miles and points, come join us.  We are going to Super Duper Burgers on Market Street (located between Montgomery and Powell Street BART stations).

  • Where: Super Duper Burgers, 721 Market St, San Francisco, CA 94103 (Google Maps)
  • When: Monday, February 15 @ 12-2pm

Good morning everyone, greetings from Dublin, Ireland.  Even though I am in Europe, I am always looking for new cash back offer and deals to share.  Unfortunately, there has not been any worthwhile offers from AMEX Offers, Citi Offers (wake up!), or BankAmeriDeals to report.  Finally, Chime released a few new offers.  These are not the greatest deals in the world, but they should save you a few bucks.

  • $5 Off $50: Best Buy, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile

Chase Freedom + Uber in Europe = 5x Chase Ultimate Reward Points + Foreign Exchange Fees

Good morning everyone, I’m here in Munich, Germany, today and flying to Venice, Italy, this evening.  I’ve had a few chances to use Uber in Europe (UberX both times) and wanted to share my thoughts.  Unfortunately, Uber is not as widespread as it is in the United States and is only available in a few European cities.  I have only taken UberX rides in Nice, France, and Munich, Germany.

UberX is always cheaper than traditional taxis (excluding surge pricing) and it can sometimes be cheaper than public transportation (buses and trains).  For short trips with multiple people, I would use UberX every chance I can.  Unfortunately, you need WiFi/data to access the Uber app.  I don’t have an international data plan, but I can connect to various free WiFi hotspots in airports, hotels, and cafes.  As long as you can request an Uber pickup, you do not need WiFi/data for the duration of the trip.  Your credit card will automatically be charged when your ride is over and you will receive an emailed receipt, like the one below.
