Keep, Cancel or Convert? Chase Sapphire Reserve ($450 Annual Fee) & JPMorgan Chase Ritz Carlton ($450 Annual Fee)

Good morning everyone, I have a dilemma on my hands.  The $450 annual fee is posting in the next 2 months on my JPMorgan Chase Ritz Carlton Credit Card and I need to decide if I should keep both my Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card and JPMorgan Chase Ritz Carlton Credit Card.  Both credit cards have $450 annual fees and I don’t *need* both credit cards, but what should I do?  As a reminder, I recently converted my Chase Freedom into a Chase Sapphire Reserve, but I have had my JPMorgan Chase Ritz Carlton Credit Card for almost 3 years (I applied for this credit card when the sign up bonus was 140,000 Marriott Points).  I will walk through all the perks for both credit cards and see if I have a clear answer by the end of this post.

Redeem Chase Ultimate Rewards Points for 1.5 Cents Per Point with Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend.  I am very late to the Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card party, but I finally have that credit card after I Converted my Chase Freedom to a Chase Sapphire Reserve.  I’ve been sitting on a bunch of Chase Ultimate Rewards Points and finally had my first opportunity to book a trip using my Chase Ultimate Rewards Points.  To redeem your Chase Ultimate Rewards Points for 1.5 cents per point (CPP), log into your Chase online account and click the Go to Ultimate Rewards box.

Singapore Airlines Partner Award Chart for Alaska Airlines Flights (Sweet Spots to Hawaii, Canada & Mexico)

Buenos dias everyone. As first reported by Scott at Travel Codex, Singapore Airlines’s Krisflyer loyalty program has released a partner award chart for flights on Alaska Airlines. It seems confusing at first, but once you understand the full picture, it makes more sense.

Alaska’s route map is split into five zones:

  • Zone 1: West Coast
  • Zone 2: Mountain West and Canada
  • Zone 3: Midwest
  • Zone 4: East Coast, Southeast, Cuba, Costa Rica, and Mexico
  • Zone 5: Alaska and Hawaii

IHG Flash Sale: 100% Bonus on Purchased Points (Expires September 29)

It must be bonus season! IHG Rewards Club just announced a four-day flash sale on IHG points. The offer ends on September 29. I’m a new Chase IHG Rewards Credit Card holder, so these kinds of sales definitely get my attention. A 100% bonus on at least 5,000 points purchased… yes, thank you! You’ll recall that I got matched to the better Chase IHG Rewards Credit Card offer when I sent Chase a Secure Message (SM), and then got some great ideas from you all about which IHG properties to use my points at. I’m just about done meeting my minimum spending on that credit card. Between those points and flash sales on IHG points like this one, I’m all set to make next year an IHG one!

I Converted my Chase Freedom to a Chase Sapphire Reserve

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend.  A few days ago, Chase announced the Chase Freedom Q4 merchants (Walmart and department stores) and you can now activate those bonus categories for your Chase Freedom Credit Card.  Unfortunately, those bonus categories do not excite me (there are no Walmart stores close to San Francisco), so I was considering a product change from my Chase Freedom Credit Card to the Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card.  In fact, last December, I wrote Should I Convert my Chase Freedom to a Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card?  I have applied for the Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card in the past, but I was declined based on the 5/24 rule, but I still really wanted the credit card, despite not being able to get the sign up bonus.  In this post, I will explain my reasoning for the product change and show how quickly the product change is processed by Chase.
