Wild Prediction: Chase Freedom Unlimited will Change to 2X Everywhere

Good afternoon everyone, I hope your week is going well.  As you know, I like to make Wild & Crazy Airline, Hotel & Credit Card Predictions.  Today’s prediction missed the official 2023 deadline, but it just came to me, so I thought it was worth sharing.  As I reminder, I am 100% correct 1% correct on my predictions, so take this with a grain of salt.

As a reminder, the Chase Freedom Unlimited Credit Card currently earns 1.5% cash back everywhere (1.5X Chase Ultimate Rewards per dollar).  That used to be great until the likes of the Citi Double Cash Credit Card (2% cash back everyone / 2x Citi ThankYou Points), American Express Blue Business Plus Credit Card (2X Membership Rewards Points everywhere), Capital One Venture X Credit Card (2X Capital One Miles everywhere), and the handful of other 2% cash back cards came onto the scene.

Bank of America Alaska Airlines Business Credit Card Upcoming Changes March 2023 (New 2x Earning Categories + 10% Relationship Bonus)

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you had a great weekend.  Doctor of Credit covered the recently announced changes to the Bank of America Alaska Airlines Credit Card, but I haven’t seen an update to the Bank of America Alaska Airlines Business Credit Card yet.  Luckily, I just got this letter in the mail that covers the upcoming changes to business credit card.  “Effective March 2023, the Annual Fee on your company account will increase to $70 on your next company account anniversary date, and the annual fee per card will be $25, assessed on the anniversary of each card.”  The “company account” used to be $50, so the combined annual fee will increase from $75 to $95 in a few months.

Effective immediately, card holders will get an earlier boarding position (probably boarding group C, since elite members are boarding groups A + B).  You can also get a $100 discount off the $650 Alaska Lounge+ Membership if you pay with this credit card.  Lastly, you and any authorized users who pay for Alaska flights with this credit card will get priority boarding and first checked bag free.

Effective March 2023, this card will earn 2x at gas stations, local transit / rideshare, and shipping.  The 3x for Alaska flights and 1x everywhere else will not change.  Lastly, if you have an “eligible Bank of America small business account,” you will get a 10% reward bonus.  See the backside of this letter for more details about all of these changes.

[Targeted] Westin Princeville, Kauai Timeshare Vacation Package: $799 for 5 Nights + 15,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points

Good morning everyone, happy Friday!  Yesterday, I wrote Hilton Timeshare Vacation Package Deals: $299 for 4 Night Stay + 150,000 HH Points (7 Destinations Available) [Expires January 10].  Today, I have a targeted timeshare vacation package offer at the Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas on the north shore of Kauai.  The cost is $799 for a 5 Night / 6 Day stay, plus you have your choice of 15,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points or a $75 resort credit.  15K points is worth $100 to me, so that brings the cost to ~$140 / night.  You do need to attend a 2 hour timeshare sales presentation, but that seems like a pretty good deal for a great property in Hawaii.  I have experience with timeshare sales presentations and they are not too bad.  I will go through the booking process to show you what it is like, what is included, and how much it costs.

Here is the letter I received and here is the link to the landing page.  Unfortunately, this offer is only available if you received a targeted email or letter with a personalize code.  You might be able to call in and see if you are eligible at 1-855-762-0111.

How to Redeem Southwest Airlines Gesture of Goodwill 25,000 Point Award Codes to your SWA Account

Good afternoon everyone.  Yesterday, Frequent Miler reported Southwest compensating passengers with 25K points each as a goodwill gesture (check your email!).  Since I read that post, I eagerly awaited my email since Laura and I were both affected by Southwest Airlines when we tried to fly home on December 26.  This morning, at 10am PT, I received the Southwest Airlines email that contained 2 sets of award codes for 25,000 Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Points each.  This is a very nice goodwill gesture by Southwest Airlines and I really appreciate it.  In this post, I will show you how to redeem the award codes to get the points deposited into your account.  Lastly, if you would rather redeem your points for gift cards, I will show you how to do that too.

Have you Read my Most Popular Posts of 2022?

Good afternoon, from rainy Northern California.  Every year, I like to check out my stats from Google Analytics to see which blog posts were the most popular.  I created 2 lists by looking at all blog posts written in 2022 and then I looked at which posts were read the most in 2022, but written in previous years (#stayingpower).  I will list the blog posts from top to bottom based on pageviews, share the original published date, and provide my thoughts or a short summary of each blog post.  If you are curious, here were the most popular posts from 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021.
