Amazon Prime Now Restaurants: $10 Off $20 First Order + Free Delivery (Select Cities)

Good morning everyone, greetings from rainy San Francisco.  Yesterday, I received a postcard in the mail for a new service called Amazon Restaurants.  I almost threw the postcard away, but then I looked more closely at it and saw that it said $10 off your first order using promo code DINELOCAL10.  I decided to check it out and place a dummy booking to see what the ordering process was like.  To see if your home or work zipcode is in an Amazon Restaurant city, click here and type in your zipcode.  Apparently this service is only available to Amazon Prime members, so if you are not a Amazon Prime member, you can sign up for a 30 day free trial.

Guest Post: 8 of the Best Road Trips in America

Good morning everyone.  Today’s blog post is written by my friend Matthew.  He is a car enthusiast and loves going on road trips.  Here are some of his favorite road trips in the United States, and I added my favorite road trip from my recent trip to Maui.  Enjoy the blog post and leave any comments or questions below.  Have a great day everyone!

As drivers, we sometimes want to just hit the road and experience the wonders that our country has to offer.  There are road trips available for all different tastes, from those who crave challenging drives to those who just want to enjoy beautiful scenery.  We’ve highlighted a few of the best routes in America; the next time you want to enjoy a drive, consider taking one of these road trips.

Overseas Highway

The Overseas Highway is the ideal road trip for ocean fans; not only will you see amazing views of the ocean, you’ll also have a chance to see stunning coral reefs as you travel through the Florida Keys.  The 113-mile trip runs between Miami and Key West and consists of 42 overseas bridges.  During the trip, drivers will see a large collection of wildlife, including ospreys, Key deer and the American crocodile.  If you’re a movie buff, the Seven Mile Bridge segment of the trip may seem familiar to you; it’s been featured in a list of films, including “Mission Impossible 3” and “2 Fast 2 Furious.”  The Overseas Highway offers plenty of places for you to get out and stretch your legs.  If you want to learn more about Key deer, the National Key Deer Refuge is a good place to start.  Bahia Honda State Park offers great ocean views and beautiful beaches.

Introduction to San Francisco Bay BART Perks Test Program

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend.  Hat tip to my friend Esther for telling me about the BART Perks program.  This program is only available to BART customers with a Clipper Card.  All of the information mentioned below came from the BART Perks FAQ PDF and all the screenshots came from my account.  I will summarize everything you need to know about BART Perks, but if you have any questions, please check the PDF for more information.

First things first, to join BART Perks, please click here to create your free account.  You will receive 250 points and start at gold status (more info on points and status below).  BART Perks is a 6 month test program to explore new ways to reduce train crowding during peak morning hours.  Riders earn points for every trip on BART and those points can be exchanged for small cash rewards or used to play a Spin to Win game for the chance to win additional points or cash rewards up to $100.  The BART Perks test program will end on February 2017 and the future of the program will be evaluated at that point.

FTU Advanced Orange County (October 28-30) and Seattle (February 24-26)

Good morning everyone, I hope your weekend is going well.  We are only 1 week away from FTU Advanced in Orange County (October 28-30).  FTU stands for Frequent Traveler University and is a travel conference with your favorite travel bloggers from Boarding Area and beyond.  I will be attending the conference, but I am not presenting.  I am flying down from SFO on Friday night after work, so I won’t be able to attend the Friday night happy hour (someone, please drink for me).  I am staying at home, not at the host hotel (The Westin South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa), but I will be at the conference all day Saturday and Sunday.  I will be wearing my classic Travel with Grant shirt (much to the chagrin of Devil’s Advocate).  If you see me, don’t be afraid to say hello :)

Targeted US Bank FlexPerks Offer: Spend $500, Earn 2,000 Bonus FlexPoints

Good morning everyone, I hope your weekend is off to a great start.  I was boring last night and did a mini American Horror Story TV marathon (don’t watch that show if you get scared easily!).  This morning, I was checking my credit card accounts and stumbled onto this promotion for my US Bank FlexPerks Travel Rewards Visa Signature Credit Card.  This offer might be targeted, but to see if are eligible for the promotion, click here (you will need to sign in or join the FlexPerks Promo page).  Once you register for the promotion, you will earn 2,000 bonus FlexPoints (worth up to $40 in travel) when you spend $500 or more between November 1 and December 31.  This is a pretty good and simple offer, so I will definitely participate.  Only purchases made between November 1 and December 31 will count toward this promotion, so you will need to wait a few days.

If you have a different US Bank FlexPerks credit card, I do not believe you are eligible for this promotion, but there might be a similar promotion available to you.  If you see a different promotion, please let me know in the comments section.  Thank you.
