Last Call for FTU Virtual Seminar on Saturday, March 11 ($25) or Free with Online Annual Membership

Good afternoon everyone, happy Friday!  If you are not busy tomorrow (Saturday, March 11), I highly recommend attending the FTU Virtual Seminar (tickets available for $25) or free if you have the FTU Online Annual Membership.  The seminar starts on Saturday, March 11, at 8am PT / 11am ET.  I have attended all of the FTU Virtual Seminars over the last 2+ years and they are always well done, educational, and entertaining – and I am sure this seminar will be no exception!  Here is the schedule for the event.

If you register for the seminar, but are unable to watch the live stream, you can access the recording of the seminar and watch later on.  This is also a great way to re-watch your favorite presentations and catch any details that you originally missed.

My Recent Retention Offers for AMEX Blue Business Plus & US Bank Altitude Reserve

Good morning everyone, I hope your week is going well.  Over the last few weeks, I made retention calls on 2 credit cards and I wanted to share my data points.  I started with the American Express Blue Business Plus Credit Card.  Even though this credit card doesn’t have an annual fee, I had heard others had success getting retention offers, so I decided to call and see if there were any offers.  I started with the AMEX Chat, but the chat rep said I needed to call a specific department to talk about retention offers.  On the phone, I explained to the rep that I have been using my American Express Business Platinum Card and American Express Business Gold Card a lot recently and haven’t been using my AMEX Blue Business Plus very much lately and I was considering closing the card.  The rep checked the offers and said they could offer me a $50 statement credit with no spend.  I asked if there were any other offers, but there were no better offers available, so I gladly accepted the offer.  The $50 statement credit posted to my account a few days later.

My Search for the Best Credit Card for Peloton Bike Rental Monthly Subscriptions

Good morning everyone.  A few months ago, I decided to get a Peloton Bike Rental and *try* to get in better shape for 2023.  The total monthly cost of the bike rental and all-access membership is $96.56 and this Mashable article explains more about the pros and cons of the rental program along with the cancellation period and buyout options.  If you are considering buying a Peloton bike, you might be better off with the rent to own model.  Anyway, let’s focus on which credit card is best for Peloton bike rental monthly subscriptions.

I Received Southwest Airlines Travel Reimbursement Payment via Hyperwallet (2 Months Later)

Good morning everyone, I hope you had a great weekend.  Back in December 2022, Laura and I were both impacted by the Southwest Airlines travel disruption.  I filled out the online form, provided our alternative travel receipts (we ended up flying Alaska Airlines instead of Southwest Airlines), and then received this Southwest Airlines confirmation email with our case number.  That was back on December 30, 2022, and I expected to hear back from Southwest Airlines sometime in January.

On January 4, we did receive 2 emails regarding Southwest Airlines Gesture of Goodwill 25,000 Point Award Codes (which I wrote about here), but we didn’t hear anything about our case number through the end of February.  Since the email below does not have an email address that you can respond to, I submitted another request with Southwest Airlines and asked for a status update on our case.
