FTU Advanced in Newport Beach & FTU Signature Event in Las Vegas

Good morning everyone, this is just a quick heads up that I will be at FTU Advanced in Newport Beach this weekend.  I won’t be able to make the Friday night happy hour event, but I will be there all day Saturday and Sunday.  If you see me where my Travel with Grant shirt, please stop by and say hello.

The next FTU Event was also announced a few days ago and it will be the FTU Signature Event in Las Vegas.  I bought my ticket and airfare for the event and am looking forward to another exciting weekend in Las Vegas.  There are still plenty of seats available, as of 12/4/2015.

SF Travel Hacker Meetup Group: November Meeting (11/30) & December Holiday Party (12/9)

Good evening everyone, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and a deal-filled Black Friday (don’t forget about Cyber Monday).  This is super last minute, but I wanted to let everyone in the Bay Area know that there is a SF Travel Hacker Meetup tomorrow night.  I will be there along with several other miles/points/MS/travel enthusiasts.

  • When: Monday, November 30 @ 7:00 PM
  • Where: Dev Bootcamp, 633 Folsom Street, 6th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94107 (Google Map)

If you get to SF early, a few of us will grab dinner/drinks at Soma Eats from 5-6:30pm.  Depending on Cyber Monday madness, I will try to be there by 5:30pm.

SFO and LAS Centurion Lounge Meetup Game Plans

Good evening everyone.  After lots of planning and several emails between American Express and the Centurion Lounge managers, the day has finally arrived.  Here is my game plan for tomorrow’s 2 Centurion Lounge meetups:

SFO Centurion Lounge

I will arrive at SFO between 11:30am and 12pm.  If you get there before I do, please tell the front desk that you are here for the Travel with Grant meetup (I have a few tables reserved).  We can then grab lunch and drinks.  We can talk about miles, points, and travel for the next 2 hours.  The lounge manager will provide a behind-the-scenes tour of the lounge from 2:30-3pm.  I will then leave the lounge at 3pm and head to my Southwest Airlines flight to Las Vegas.   Continue reading

*Updated* List of British Airways Avios Routes from the Bay Area (SFO, OAK, and SJC)

(Hat Tip to Tym2Trvl on Twitter)

Good morning everyone.  British Airways made an announcement overnight that they would be eliminating the 4,500 Avios award band for all award travel on American Airlines and Alaska Airlines.  The lowest Avios award band for American Airlines and Alaska Airlines will be 7,500 Avios starting on February 2, 2016.  All other Avios award bands for travel on all other Avios partners remain the same.

British Airways Changes Feb 2 2016

Here is the *modified* British Airways Avios award chart for American Airlines and Alaska Airlines.  The original award chart is still valid for all other Avios award bands.  The original post (showing 4,500 Avios flights and US Airways award flights is here).

In this post, I will show you all the non-stop flights from San Francisco (SFO), Oakland (OAK), and San Jose (SJC) that you can book with British Airways Avios.  Dan’s Deals has details for several other airports here.  I have broken up all the flights into the various Avios bands, starting with the shortest distance.  Note: Alaska Airlines and Aer Lingus can be booked with British Airways Avios, but you will have to call British Airways to book the award ticket.  Please read Book British Airways Avios Award Tickets for more information.   Continue reading
