Belated 5th Birthday / Blogiversary + 5 TWG Shirts Giveaway [5 Winners Announced]

Updated 12pm PT on 5/22: I selected 5 winners and emailed them asking for their shirt size and mailing address.  The winners are listed at the bottom of this post.  Thank you to everyone who entered the giveaway.

Good morning everyone, happy Friday!  I have a short weekend trip with my brother to Portland and we will be exploring waterfalls and hikes around Salem.  Oh, I almost forgot, May 1 was TWG’s 5th birthday / blogiversary.  I have been busy with work, Cinco de Mayo, and Mother’s Day, that TWG’s 5th birthday / blogiversary totally slipped my mind.  I can’t believe I am still blogging, but I owe it all to my readers who read, comment, and share my posts everyday.  You guys (and gals) keep me going!

To show my appreciation, I wanted to do a giveaway.  I usually give out Amazon eGift Cards, but I thought I would do something more special for TWG’s 5th birthday / blogiversary.  I am giving out 5 TWG shirts to 5 readers.  I will order your size and mail the shirt to you.  If you are not a fan of the TWG shirt and would rather have an Amazon eGift Card, that can be arranged too!  Read on for how to enter the giveaway…

Chase Honored 20,000 Point Offer on Upgraded Marriott Rewards Premier Plus Credit Card

Good afternoon everyone, I hope your day is going well.  2 days ago, I wrote My New Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Plus Credit Card Arrived & Upgrade Offer Discrepancy.  In that post, I told you that I accepted a 20,000 point upgrade offer to upgrade from my old Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Credit Card to the new Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Plus Credit Card.  But when I got the credit card and confirmed with the rep that my upgrade offer was 20,000 points, the rep told me that my account only showed a 10,000 point upgrade offer.

After that call, I sent Chase a Secure Message (SM) with the screenshots of the 20,000 point upgrade offer.  Shortly after that, I received a response.  My 20,000 point upgrade offer “will be honored” (I would hope so, since that is why I upgraded), after my first purchase.  To get the 20,000 point upgrade offer, I had to make 1 purchase.  After that purchase posted, I was told to reply to the Secure Message “to claim the offer.”

Amazon Prime: Keep or Cancel? Help Me Decide!

A while ago Amazon announced an increase to their Amazon Prime fees. And even though there are ways to keep the fees at the $99 yearly for a bit longer, it still seemed to me I should take a closer look at whether or not I was getting value from having Amazon Prime even at the $99 rate.

I always say, “Let math be your friend” and in fact, I enjoy math. And I enjoy using spreadsheets, too. I’m not exactly Don in The Rosie Project, but I can come awfully close to his obsession with tracking things.

So let’s take a look at what I actually DO use Amazon Prime for, because I think a lot of people see all the potential uses of Amazon Prime but don’t really use them. Continue reading

How to Maximize Wishlist Rewards (Employee Appreciation Gifted Experiences)

Good morning everyone.  This post will not be very useful to most people, but if I can help 1-2 people, I will be happy.  Wishlist Rewards is a service that companies use to thank their employees (employee appreciation gifted experiences).  For example, my company provides gifts to employees on their work anniversary.  Instead of giving the same gift to everyone, they hired Wishlist Rewards to fulfill experience gifts (intangible gifts like show tickets, massages, sunset sailboat rides, whitewater rafting and much more).  In this post, I will show you how to maximize the value you get from Wishlist Rewards.  Here is the email I received from my company congratulating me on my 3 year work anniversary.  I clicked the View Your Wishlist link to explore the possible experiences.

Office Depot Boise Paper 2 Cases Rebate ($80 OD/OM Gift Card) Timeline

Last month, Doctor of Credit shared a deal from Office Depot / OfficeMax where you could buy $116 worth of paper for $60 (with coupon) and get an $80 OD/OM Gift Card as a rebate.  I immediately jumped at the offer to spend $60 and get an $80 OD/OM Gift Card, plus I could donate the paper to my girlfriend’s elementary school (win-win).

A few days later, Office Depot changed the terms of the rebate so that you had to buy the paper in-store, not online.  I was waiting and hoping for the best since I had already submitted my rebate before the rebate terms were changed.  I have good news to share.  I purchased 2 cases of paper online, submitted 1 rebate form, and received an $80 OD/OM Gift Card.  In this post, I will document the dates of the rebate.  I purchased the 2 cases of paper on April 10 around 4pm.
