American Express Platinum Card Now Includes Hertz President’s Circle Elite Status in Car Rental Benefit

Updated at 3:30pm PT on 11/10/22: I signed into my Hertz account and saw my new Hertz President’s Circle status – roughly 48 hours after submitting my request online.

Updated at 12:00pm PT on 11/8/22: AMEX Corporate Platinum cardholders are also eligible for Hertz President’s Circle.  The link to enroll in the status is now working on Hertz’s website, so I added those steps below.

Good afternoon everyone.  I was reviewing my recent American Express Business Platinum Card statement and noticed this announcement about the Car Rental benefit.  Effective today (November 3, 2022), AMEX personal, business, and corporate Platinum cardholders now receive Hertz President’s Circle Elite Status which let’s you skip the counter, add a free additional driver, expedited returns, and get a 4 hour grace period on returns.  Here is the announcement:

AutoSlash Saved Me $425 on 2 Hawaii Car Rentals (Final Results)

Good evening everyone, I hope the first day of Summer is treating you well.  A few weeks ago, Laura and I went to Hawaii for vacation.  We needed to rent a car on Maui (OGG) for 3 days and another car on Oahu (HNL) for 4 days.  Naturally, I turned to AutoSlash to help find the cheapest car rentals for my vacation.  Last August, I wrote AutoSlash Saved Me $1300+ on 2 Hawaii Car Rentals (Final Results).  Rental cars were crazy expensive in 2021, so I didn’t expect huge savings in 2022, but AutoSlash did a great job and saved me $425 on 2 rental cars.  In this post, I will show you the final results and how many times I rebooked each reservation.

To get started, my original 3 day car rental on Maui was $360 and my original 4 day car rental on Oahu was $463.  I booked these reservations on April 9 and the car rentals were for June 7 and June 10.

Travel with Grant has Moved… into a New Home & Quick Trip Report of our Maui Vacation

Good morning everyone, happy Friday! Laura and I just finished selling our old home, buying a new home, doing a few small home improvement projects around the new home (painting rooms, changing lights, etc.) and unpacking boxes. I haven’t had much free time to write blog posts over the last few weeks, but now that the dust has settled, I have more free time now.

A few weeks ago (in the middle of packing and moving), Laura and I went to Maui for her Spring Break (she is a teacher). We flew Alaska Airlines roundtrip from San Francisco (SFO) to Maui (OGG) using my Alaska Airlines Companion Fare. Since we both have Alaska Airlines MVP Elite Status, we were upgraded to first class on our return flight. In my experience, I have had good luck getting upgraded when flying on less popular routes and on less popular days (like weekdays).

We used AutoSlash to help get us a good deal on a Hertz rental car. The new Maui airport rental car facility is very nice – I wish all airports had a rental car facility and tram system like the one at the Maui airport. We stayed on the South Shore in Kihei in a Vacasa Vacation Rental. The rental cost 13,500 Wyndham Rewards Points per night and I used a combination of points from my Barclays Wyndham Rewards Business Earner Credit Card and transferred Capital One Points to Wyndham Rewards to top off for an award.  Here is the view from our Vacasa Vacation Rental:

AutoSlash Saved Me $1300+ on 2 Hawaii Car Rentals (Final Results)

Good afternoon everyone.  On May 27, I wrote PSA: Rental Car Rates are Sky High, Book ASAP.  In that post, I shared my bewilderment at the sky high rental car rates, especially in Hawaii.  I needed 2 small / economy rental cars for Lihue and Kona for a 9 day trip and the cheapest prices available were $1,967.98 total for both rentals.  At that time, I had about 2 months before my Hawaii trip, so I put all my trust and faith in AutoSlash to find me cheaper rental cars.  Less than 2 weeks later (June 9), I wrote AutoSlash Already Saved Me $400 on 2 Rental Car Reservations.  Saving $400 in less than 2 weeks was a great start, but I hoped AutoSlash could continue to find me cheaper rental cars.  2 weeks after that (June 21), I wrote AutoSlash Saved Me Another $500 on 2 Rental Car Reservations.  I had already saved $900 on my 2 rental cars in less than a month and almost cut the cost of the rental cars in half.  Luckily, AutoSlash was not done working their magic.  In this post, I will share my final results and show you how AutoSlash saved me more than $1,300 on my 2 rental cars.

The last and best AutoSlash deal for Lihue came on June 20 from Hertz for $397.87.
