Epic RV Road Trip from Los Angeles to Denver thanks to TransferCar

Good evening from St. George, Utah.  This is day 2 of my epic RV road trip from Los Angeles to Denver, made possible by TransferCar’s $1 per rental day service.  I wrote about TransferCar a few weeks ago here: Get Free One Way Car or RV Rentals with TransferCar.

I promise to write more about the service and my experience, but for now, I wanted to share some pics from my trip.  Here is my 27 foot RV rental.  It is not the huge RV (thank goodness), but it is somewhat tricky to drive.

Reactivate Expired Marriott Free Night Certificates

Good afternoon everyone, if you are like me, you probably have a few hotel credit cards which provide free night certificates each year.  Juggling and remembering to use the free night certificates can be challenging at times and you may forget to use one of your free nights before the expiration date arrives.  This is the story of how my expired Marriott free night certificate was reactivated.  For the record, I really dislike Marriott’s free night certificates because they only have a 6 month life span, compared to all the other annual free night certificates.  I wrote about using the Marriott free night certificates here.

My Review of FTU Advanced San Diego and Tacos el Gordo

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend.  Myself and approximately 200 other miles and points “collectors” gathered at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay in San Diego this past weekend.  We had several speakers from Boarding Area (Greg @ Frequent Miler, Ben/Lucky @ One Mile at a Time, Gary @ View from the Wing, Scott @ Travel Codex, and Stefan @ Rapid Travel Chai) along with Mathew @ Upgrd.  The event began Friday night with a cocktail reception out on the lawn and it was my first chance to meet the other attendees.  I must confess, I had appetizers in the Regency Club before the reception and went back afterwards for some dessert.  The food in the Regency Club was very fresh and the desserts were delicious.

FTU San Diego Meetup for Saturday Night (March 7) at Tacos El Gordo

Good afternoon everyone from the beautiful Holiday Inn Express Old Town San Diego!  I flew down to San Diego a day early, but tomorrow I will be staying at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay where the Frequent Traveler University (FTU) in San Diego will be held.  During the big travel conferences, it is customary/mandatory to meetup Saturday night and go out to dinner.

I have heard many great things about Tacos El Gordo and have decided to check it out.  The score on Yelp is 4.5 stars with 1,635 reviews.  If they awarded Michelin Stars for Mexican food, this place would surely be 3-star-worthy.   (Insert a joke about meatup instead of meetup.)
