Goodbye Better Balance Rewards, Hello Bank of America Unlimited Cash Rewards MasterCard and Visa Credit Cards (Card Art Images)

Good afternoon everyone, I hope your week is going well.  A few weeks ago, I wrote about the Targeted: $200 Bonus for Bank of America Better Balance Rewards Credit Cards Converting to Unlimited Cash Rewards.  Last week, I wrote How to Redeem Bank of America Unlimited Cash Rewards Credit Card $200 Bonus for Statement Credit. I thought that I would do one more post about my beloved Better Balance Rewards (BBR) credit cards before I put them through the shredder.  I didn’t realize until now, but on the back side of the BBR credit cards, it says “Cardholder Since” with a 15 on the MasterCard and a 17 on Visa.  I will assume Bank of America means 2015 and 2017, since I haven’t had these cards since I was 15 years old or 17 years old.

I did some rough math and calculated that I have had these credit cards for about 60 quarters total from the time I received them / converted to them and now.  Since I have a linked Bank of America checking account, I received a $30 quarterly bonus each quarter when I pay my bill in full and on time.  60 quarters x $30 = $1,800 in cash back.  Now I understand why Bank of America had to kill these cards, they were probably losing hundreds of thousands of dollars per year without generating much income.  RIP BBR credit cards, you will be missed.

Updated at 10:30am PT on 6/8/23: Here is a Chase Paze FAQ page and a US Bank Digital Services Agreement page (scroll down to “Using Paze”).

Good afternoon everyone.  I went down a deep rabbit hole that started with an email from Wells Fargo and ended with me finding details of Paze – a new digital wallet service from Zelle’s parent company (Early Warning Services).  Follow me down the rabbit hole as I explain more about Paze.  The journey began when I received this email from Wells Fargo about updates to the Online Access Agreement.  I clicked the link to view the Summary of Changes to see if there was anything noteworthy.

Targeted: $200 Bonus for Bank of America Better Balance Rewards Credit Cards Converting to Unlimited Cash Rewards

Good afternoon everyone, happy Friday!  Doctor of Credit is reporting that some members who have a Bank of America Better Balance Rewards Credit Card are seeing a targeted offer for a $200 bonus after spending $1,000 in 4 months once their card converts to the Bank of America Unlimited Cash Rewards Credit Card.  I currently have 2 BBR CCs and saw this offer when I signed into my Bank of America app this morning.  I took screenshots to remind myself of this promo since I haven’t received an email about this offer or see it mentioned anywhere else in the app.  If you have a BBR, sign into the app and see if you are targeted for this bonus.

Stacking Carnival Cruise Line Fun Match “Free” Cruise with 2x $35 Off $100 Chase Offer & BankAmeriDeal

Good morning everyone, I hope your week is going well.  A few weeks ago, I followed Nick’s advice from Frequent Miler and got a “free” cruise from Carnival Cruise Line.  Nick also got me a “free” Holland America Cruise, so if I ever see Nick on the High Seas, I will be sure to buy him a refreshing drink (or two).  Technically, these “free” cruises aren’t really free, I still had to pay a few hundred dollars in taxes, fees, port expenses, and gratuities, but I’m excited to go on my first cruise since my 2002 cruise to Alaska (scroll to the bottom to see some old school photos).

With the Carnival Fun Match promo, I received an offer for a “free” room (up to a balcony room), $50 in FunPlay credit, free drinks in the casino, and $100 OnBoard Credit per person. To reduce the cost, I split the $200 deposit and paid with 2 credit cards to trigger 2x $35 statement credits.
