Forget Chase Sapphire Reserve! Apply for US Bank FlexPerks & Ameriprise AMEX Platinum before September 1

Good morning everyone.  I think the Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card hype is dying down a bit.  Unfortunately, I am way over 5/24 and I have no pre-qualified offers, so it looks like I won’t be getting the Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card anytime soon.  I’m a glass half full kind of guy, so I am always looking for the next best thing.  There are 2 other cards that I am applying for now.

The first is the US Bank FlexPerks Business Edge Visa Credit Card.  Thanks to the awesome performance by Team USA, the current sign up bonus is 34,800 FlexPoints after spending $2,000 in 4 months.  The sign up bonus is great and the minimum spend amount is quite easy.  The sign up bonus is the same for the personal version of the credit card – US Bank FlexPerks Visa Signature Credit Card.  I already have that credit card (along with the US Bank FlexPerks American Express Credit Card), so the business version is the only one I am going after.

3 Ways to Calculate Progress Toward Chase Freedom Q3 Restaurant Spend

Good morning everyone, I hope your week is off to a great start.  If you are anything like me, you eat out a lot.  Luckily, the Chase Freedom Credit Card is rewarding my love of eating out this quarter by offering 5% cash back on all restaurant purchases.  Unfortunately, some restaurants, fast food places, and online orders (using ApplePay in-app) do not code as restaurants.  So how do you know how much you have spent on restaurants in Q3?  In this post, I will show you 3 different ways.  Use the way the works best for you.

The first approach is the old school way.  Log into your Chase online account, go to your Chase Freedom Credit Card account and click the Search Transactions link.

Targeted Offers: Hyatt Maui Timeshare Presentation & US Bank Club Carlson Spending Bonus

Good morning everyone, happy Tuesday!  Over the weekend, I got a few offers in the mail.  The first is for a Hyatt Residence Club timeshare presentation at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort.  I am going to Maui in October for my Westin Vacation Package offer I received a few months ago, so I am not going to use this offer for 6 days / 5 nights + 10,000 Hyatt Gold Passport points + 90 minute timeshare presentation for $799.  I have had a Chase Hyatt Credit Card for a few years but never been to a Hyatt Residence Club timeshare presentation.  If Arizona is more your style, check out this Hyatt Residence Club Resort Timeshare in Sedona, AZ.

Chase QuickPay Changes: Need Chase Checking or Liquid Prepaid Card Starting August 19, 2016

Good afternoon everyone, I just received an email from Chase that said I had just received a Chase Secure Message (SM).  I logged into my Chase online account and went to my Secure Messages window.  Chase is making a few changes to the way Chase QuickPay will work for both sending and receiving money.  Starting August 19, 2016, users will need to have a Chase checking account or a Chase Liquid Prepaid Card.  This change is related to how Chase sends and receives money with a service called clearXchange.  I wrote about clearXchange (cXc) last year in this post: Email Address Issues Regarding clearXchange Network Payments from Chase, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America.  One positive improvement starting on September 11, 2016, is that all Chase QuickPay payments will automatically be received and deposited into your account, you will no longer need to manually sign in to accept Chase QuickPay payments.
