Chase Ink Plus $95 Statement Credit and Other Retention Offer Tips and Tricks

(Hat Tip to Kenny @ Saverocity for the inspiration)

Good evening everyone, I am writing this blog post from The Hall, a bar/restaurant in SF as I wait for a few travel hackers to join me.  This morning on BART, I read Kenny’s post about his recent Citi retention offers and I thought I would share my retention offer strategy and a few tips and tricks.  I’ve probably mentioned these tips and tricks a few times on this blog, but a refresher is always welcome.

Let me recap my recent retention offer call to Chase regarding my Chase Ink Plus Business Credit Card.  The $95 annual fee was going to post at the end of this month and I haven’t used this credit card in 6+ months (my Chase Ink Bold Business Credit Card get’s all my love).

Chase Ink Bold Business Card now Shows Credit Line and Cash Advance Limit

Good evening everyone.  1 month ago, Chase sent out letters announcing that they would be converting all Chase Ink Bold Charge Cards into credit cards with a stated credit limit and cash advance limit.  Those changes are not effective as of August 31, 2015 and all changes are now live.  Here is a summary of the changes:

  • Currently, the Chase Ink Bold is a charge card, meaning you must pay your balance in full, otherwise you will be charged a fee.  The new Chase Ink Bold will allow you to pay your balance over time (instead of being charged a fee, you will instead pay interest on any balance that is not paid in full by your payment due date).
  • Currently, the Chase Ink Bold has a flexible spending limit whereby you are allowed to go over your preset spending limit.  The new Chase Ink Bold will have a stated credit access line (aka a credit line/limit) that will be shown on your monthly statement.

This evening when I logged into my Chase online account, I noticed the stated credit limit of $12,000 on my Chase Ink Bold Business Card.

New AMEX Offers: 1,000 MR Points for $50 Whole Foods Purchase, See Your City Dining Program, and Others

(Hat Tip to Doctor of Credit’s Post)

Good morning everyone, I have a few new AMEX Offers to share with you today.  The most exciting offer is for Whole Foods.  A few weeks ago, there was a similar offer at Whole Foods where you could get a $10 statement credit after spending $75.  Today’s Whole Foods offer is even better.  Get 1,000 American Express Membership Reward Points after spending $50 at Whole Foods.  Since this offer pays out in AMEX MR Points, this offer will only show up on AMEX MR Point-earning credit/charge cards.  All other AMEX cash back or miles/points earning cards are excluded from this promo.
