Hotel Buy Points Promos Ending Soon: Choice, Hyatt, Radisson, IHG, La Quinta & Hilton

Good morning everyone.  Since Black Friday and Cyber Monday are right around the corner, several hotels are running buy points promos now.  I wrote about 7 airline buy miles / points promos yesterday and I have all the latest offers on my Buy Miles & Points Page.  Always check the math to make sure that buying points makes sense for you.  Do not buy points speculatively unless you have a use in mind.  With that said, here are the 6 promos that are ending soon. First up, Choice Hotels is offering a 25% discount when you purchase Choice Privileges points.  This offer expires on November 26.

Hilton and Marriott Hotel Promos: Take Advantage of These Two!

Hotel points are ours for the taking if we qualify for offers or spend a few minutes of our time gathering them up. And it’s best to have hotel points across a few different programs, too. Make sure you take a look at these two promotions. Here’s an offer for some Hilton Honors points in exchange for credit card spend. Ian at PWAC explains it here. Marriott’s latest “game” can be worth it, so check this promotion out as well. It’s detailed here at PMTTP. Have a great Sunday, everyone!

Bean Around The World: Stockholm, Sweden

I guess it’s time for a true confession. I’m a coffee snob. And when I travel, I have a passion for supporting local roasters and coffee houses. Let’s just say I’ve BEAN Around the World and I’m feeling like now is the time to start sharing the love… and caffeine, one city at a time. Recently, I had a wonderful holiday in Stockholm, Sweden. And though it was hard to tear myself away from the sites and all the bakeries, I did explore the coffee houses, and I’m glad I did. I drank plenty of coffee, talked with baristas, and I’ve got lots to share with you. Let’s open the TWG cafe society doors and talk coffee, Stockholm style.

I’ll say right up front that Scandinavia gets a lot of buzz for having the current “happening” coffee scene. Part of planning this trip was actually based on wanting to experience the scene myself and see what all the hoopla was about. My impressions in Stockholm, as they did in Copenhagen, run the gamut from being thrilled to being disappointed. Continue reading

125K American Express Hilton Honors Business Credit Card Sign Up Bonus via Referral Link

Good morning everyone.  A few days ago, Doctor of Credit noticed increased referral sign up bonuses for the American Express Hilton Honors Aspire Credit Card (my referral link) and American Express Hilton Honors Ascend Credit Card (my referral link).  Both credit cards offer 150,000 Hilton Honors Points when you complete the minimum spending requirement.  At the time, the no annual fee American Express Hilton Honors Credit Card and American Express Hilton Honors Business Credit Card were still offering 100,000 Hilton Honors Points via referral links.  But it looks like the American Express Hilton Honors Business Credit Card (my referral link) has increased the referral sign up bonus to 125,000 Hilton Honors Points.  As a referrer, you can earn up to 80,000 Hilton Honors Points per calendar year (20,000 Hilton Honors Points per referral).  Thank you for using my referral links if you decide to apply for any of these credit cards.

PSA: Hyatt Elites–Don’t Forget This Valuable Benefit!

Resort fees, destination fees; call them what you want, they all stink. Hotels have a menu (except we don’t get to pick and choose) of junk fees that are attached to our bills for all kinds of “services and amenities” that used to be complimentary or something we could choose to pay extra for. I don’t think any of us really believe hotel claims about why they’re now adding on these fees. From what I’ve read, it seems like these fees enable hotels to still claim their rates are lower and also pay less to travel agents since commissions are paid based on the base rate, not the total rate.

Some of us though do have a work-around for these fees and I was reminded of this recently when booking a Hyatt hotel. As I was finishing up my booking the total rate for the night seemed so high that I actually noticed it. The taxes and fees came to 20% of the total bill.
