Travel with Grant Turns 9 Years Old & My 9 Favorite Posts from the Last Year

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend.  9 years ago today (back on May 1, 2013), Travel with Grant was born!  Even though I am not a full time blogger and writing this post from a tropical beach, I’m still very happy and grateful to still be writing and sharing my thoughts with my readers.  Every year (when I remember), I like to write a birthday / blogiversary post about TWG.  If you want to reminisce through the years, check out these old posts: Year 1Year 2Year 3Year 4Year 5Year 6, no Year 7 (I forgot about it during the pandemic), and Year 8.

I cover a wide variety of travel topics and don’t tend to follow the travel blogging crowd (I think of myself as Dory from Finding Nemo, just swimming around doing my own thing).  Some of these posts were very popular and got lots of pageviews, but others didn’t get as much love as I thought they would.  But without further ado, here are my 9 favorite posts from the last year (May 2021 – April 2022) in chronological order. PSA: Register ASAP for Chase IHG Premier Personal & Business Credit Card $50 United Airlines TravelBank Credit

Good afternoon everyone, happy Friday!  I hope you have exciting Easter, Passover, and Ramadan plans this weekend.  A few weeks ago, the Chase IHG Rewards Premier Credit Card and Chase IHG Rewards Premier Business Credit Card started offering cardholders $50 United Airlines TravelBank Credit each calendar year.  The TravelBank Credit is split into two $25 credits that appear in your United Airlines account twice a year.  I recently booked a United Airlines flight and was excited to use one of the $25 credits to save a few bucks, but it didn’t quite work out for me.  Long story short, you need to register for the benefit first and then wait up to 2 weeks for the first $25 credit to post to your United Airlines account.  Don’t make the same mistake as me and wait until you are ready to book your next United Airlines flight to sign up for the credit.

To get started, go to the IHG / United registration page and click the Sign In button.  As you can see, it says “it may take up to 2 weeks for your registration to take effect.”

$25 Walmart eGC Retention Offer for Cancelling my Sam’s Club Membership (AKA Disable Auto Renew)

Good morning everyone, I hope your weekend is going well.  A few days ago, I got an email reminder from Sam’s Club that my membership was auto renewing on March 5, 2022.  I signed up for Sam’s Club last year since there was a targeted offer on my Discover It Credit Card where you would get a $45 Sam’s Club gift card when you signed up for a Sam’s Club membership, which costs $45 (see Doctor of Credit’s post).  I went once to Sam’s Club to activate my membership, get my membership card, and pick up my $45 Sam’s Club gift card (which I used the same day shopping).  I haven’t been back to Sam’s Club since because the closest location is 50+ miles away and I prefer the Costco location 2 miles away.

Long story short, I needed to cancel (or disable the auto renew feature on) my membership so I would not be charged again.  I called Sam’s Club, explained the situation, and the rep sent me a $25 Sam’s Club / Walmart eGC that could be used to offset the membership cost, if I decided to stay with Sam’s Club.  I will document the process below.

Have you Read my Most Popular Posts of 2021?

Good morning everyone, happy New Year’s Eve!  Every year, I like to check out my stats from Google Analytics to see which blog posts were the most popular.  I created 2 lists by looking at all blog posts written in 2021 and then I looked at which posts were read the most in 2021, but written in previous years (#stayingpower).  I will list the blog posts from top to bottom based on pageviews, share the original published date, and provide a short summary of each blog post.  If you are curious, here were the most popular posts from 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
