Good afternoon everyone, happy New Year’s Eve!  As we wrap up 2024, it’s time to take a look at my top 10 most popular blog posts of the year. Barring any crazy last minute spikes in blog readership today, these are the top 10 blog posts written in 2024 and top 10 blog posts written in previous years. If you are curious, here were the most popular posts from 20162017201820192020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.

2024’s Most Popular Blog Posts (Written in 2024)

  • PSA: Bank of America Won’t Automatically Send a Replacement Debit Card when your Card Expires (2/20/24) – I realized my Bank of America debit card had expired in July 2022, and I never received a replacement debit card until I requested one in February 2024, despite having it stored in ApplePay. My frustration grew from the lack of notifications and outdated PIN change process. Judging by the number of pageviews this post received, I guess I wasn’t the only one with this problem.
  • My 2023 Peloton Bike Rental Year End Review (Total Cost of Ownership & Workout Class Stats) (1/21/24) – In 2023, I rented a Peloton bike instead of buying one, opting for the flexibility of a monthly rental with the option to pause or return it. Although I didn’t meet my fitness goals, I appreciated the variety of classes, the ability to create multiple profiles, and the affordability of the rental option, especially with my employer’s fitness reimbursement.  I wasn’t planning on writing a 2024 Peloton year end review, but since this post was so popular, I will work on a 2024 update in the coming days.
  • Attention Coinstar Users: Not All Kiosks Offer Amazon eGift Cards (1/19/24) – During a recent trip to SoCal, I used a Coinstar kiosk to convert a bag of change into an eGC, only to find that Amazon was missing as a redemption option. After researching, I discovered that not all kiosks offer Amazon eGCs, with availability varying by location and grocery store chain.  I wish all Coinstar kiosks had the same redemption offers so this issue would be avoided.

  • My Preparation to Close American Express Business Platinum Card (4/20/24) – After unsuccessfully negotiating for a retention offer, I chose to close my AMEX Business Platinum to avoid the $695 annual fee, taking advantage of as many benefits as possible before canceling. I also showed how to remove the closed card from my online account.
  • I Finally Got A Bilt Credit Card (Application Process, Earning & Redeeming Strategy, and Unboxing) (2/10/24) – After applying for the Bilt Credit Card and quickly being approved, I was impressed by its design and the 5X points bonus offered on all purchases for the first 5 days. While I originally didn’t see the value in the card, I’ve since developed a strategy for earning and redeeming points through its earning structure and Rent Day transfer bonuses.  Bilt has scaled back the awesomeness of this card throughout 2024, but I am hoping we see some positive changes in 2025.
  • Costco In-Store: 10% Off Alaska Airlines Gift Cards ($500 GC for $449.99) (YMMV) (11/17/24) – I found a great deal at Costco for $500 in Alaska Airlines GCs for just $449.99, offering a 10% discount, and purchased a pack for myself. While this deal is available at select Costco locations, you can check availability at your local store using the Costco app with item number 1888636.  I was at Costco yesterday and saw that these Alaska Airlines GCs were still available for purchase.  I am hoping Costco drops the price a few more dollars in the coming weeks.
  • Quick & Easy Status Match to Sonesta Travel Pass Platinum Status (7/8/24) – After reading about a status match to Sonesta Platinum Elite Status, I reached out to Sonesta and successfully matched my Wyndham Rewards Diamond Elite Status to Sonesta Platinum Elite Status. Sonesta accepts status matches from Hyatt Globalist, IHG Diamond, and Wyndham Diamond.  It looks like the Bank of America Sonesta Credit Card is no longer available.  I wonder what happened to this credit card.
  • My Las Vegas Casino Status Matches: Caesars Diamond > Wynn Platinum > Fontainebleau Gold > MGM Gold > Unity by Hard Rock Icon (5/27/24) – Over Memorial Day Weekend, I completed a series of casino status matches while staying at the Paris Las Vegas, including matching Caesars Rewards Diamond to Wynn Rewards Platinum, Fontainebleau Rewards Gold, MGM Rewards Gold and Unity by Hard Rock Icon. These matches allowed me to receive various perks like dining credits, spa credits, and enhanced room upgrades.  We also enjoyed watching 2 Cirque Du Soleil shows and eating out.  I haven’t been back to Las Vegas since May, but I am hoping I will be able to use my status matches in 2025.
  • How to Trigger $7 Dunkin Credit with $7 Gift Card Reload in Dunkin App (8/5/24) – I used my $7 monthly Dunkin Credit on the American Express Gold Card by first sending myself a $5 Dunkin eGC and adding it to my Dunkin account, then reloading $7 onto the card through the Dunkin app. Although there aren’t many Dunkin locations nearby, I look forward to using my balance when I travel.  I have heard that you can use the Dunkin app to pay at Baskin Robins, but I haven’t been to a BR in many years.

2024’s Most Popular Blog Posts (Written before 2024)

  • My Experience with the InKind App to Pay Restaurant Bill, $25 Referral Credit, & $50 AMEX Offer (11/30/22) – I used the InKind AMEX Offer to purchase a $50 InKind eGC and received a $50 statement credit, and I stacked it with a $25 referral credit for a total of $75 in free InKind credit. I then used the InKind app to pay a restaurant bill at a participating location, although tips must still be paid separately. I’m hoping we see more generous InKind promos in 2025.
  • Choose a New Design for your Discover It Credit Card – 159 Colorful Options Available (2/2/22) – I received an email from Discover offering a variety of 159 colorful card design options for my Discover It Credit Card, and I was impressed by the wide selection. After browsing, I found several designs I liked, including options featuring NHL teams, pets, state flags, and much more.  This is very helpful if you have multiple Discover It Credit Cards so you can easily tell them apart.
  • How to Use Home Depot Store Credit for Online Purchases (8/30/21) – I ran into issues using my Home Depot store credit for an online purchase, as it can only be redeemed in-store according to their policy. After some persistence and a visit to my local Home Depot, I was able to use the credit by placing an in-store order for online items and picking up the order after it arrived at the store.  This strategy might work for other retailers with the same store credit policy.
  • How to Add a PIN to a Visa or MasterCard Gift Card (7/23/13) – This is one of my oldest posts from 2013 and still receives tons of pageviews every year. I demonstrated how to add a PIN to a $200 Visa GC and a $200 MasterCard GC, both of which involve simple steps on their respective websites or by calling a toll-free number. After following the instructions, I successfully created and activated a PIN for each gift card, allowing them to be used more easily for online transactions.
  • Why Are My Walmart Orders Instantly Cancelled? Use Walmart’s Online Chat to Fix (7/26/17) – This post is always very popular around Thanksgiving and the holiday shopping season. I encountered multiple order cancellations when trying to use a Walmart AMEX Offer to purchase a $50 Uber eGC. After several chats with Walmart’s customer service and waiting for escalations, my order was finally processed, and I successfully received my eGC. Chat for the win!

There you have it folks, here are the top 10 most popular posts written in 2024 and the most popular posts written before 2024.  Were any of these posts your favorite from 2024?  Happy New Year everyone!
