AMEX Serve Discontinues International ATM Access and a few New AMEX Offers (Hilton Hotels & Others)

Good morning everyone from raining San Francisco.  I just received an email from AMEX Serve that effective immediately, you will not be able to use your AMEX Serve Card at international ATMs.  No heads up from American Express = not good customer service.  Hopefully no one brought their AMEX Serve Card with them on an international trip.

Serve no International ATMs

AMEX has released a few new AMEX Offers over the last few days, one of the best being $60 off $300 Hilton Hotels reservation.

Travel Predictions for 2016 Part 1: Airlines and Hotels

Update: Travel Predictions for 2016 Part 2: Credit Cards and MS is now live!

Good morning everyone, happy New Years Eve!  To prove how smart or dumb I am, I wanted to make a few predictions for 2016.  In Part 1, I will share my thoughts and predictions about airlines and hotels.  In Part 2, I will share my thoughts and predictions about credit cards and MS.  If you strongly agree or disagree with any of my thoughts or predictions, please leave a comment below and we will see who is right next year.  Without any further ado, let’s make some guesses!

Airlines

Southwest – Southwest points used to be worth 1.67 CPP, then they were worth 1.43 CPP, now with route variability, I have no idea how much Southwest points are worth.  I wish Southwest points would be worth a fixed amount, maybe 1.5 CPP for all flights.  I hope Southwest continues to announce new routes, especially a few routes from the West Coast to Hawaii.  Lastly, for the last several year, credit card sign up bonus points have counted toward the Southwest Companion Pass.  I think this might change in 2016.

American – after the devaluation goes into effect, I hope award space improves considerably (it can’t get much worse).  I hope American gets rid of the close-in booking fee for booking award flights within 3 weeks of travel.  I also hope that Citi adds the ability to transfer Citi Thank You Points into American Airlines miles.  I hope Citi Prestige Credit Card holders retain the ability to book American and AA codeshare flights for 1.6 CPP.

Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve Credit Card Annual Fee Notification Oversight

Good morning everyone.  I just got an email from Citi regarding my Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve Credit Card.  Apparently, on my last statement that closed a few days ago, Citi forgot to mention that the annual fee will be billed the following month.  I’m not sure if this is a regulation that credit card companies have to follow whereby they have to inform you 1 month prior to having the annual fee billed to your account or if that is just a courtesy most credit card companies follow.  Either way, if you had planned to cancel your Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve Credit Card before the annual fee posts to you account, you can call the number listed below.  If you call, your credit card will be canceled.

New AMEX Offers: ShopRite (Stackable), Hampton by Hilton, Instacart & More

Good morning everyone.  American Express released a few more AMEX Offers since Monday (19 New AMEX Offers: Amazon, Uber, Toys R Us / Babies R Us & More).  The most interesting offer is for ShopRite: $20 off $75.  That is pretty good on its own, but Frequent Miler reported that you can get $20 in Free Groceries with a $100 Gift Card Purchase at ShopRite.  If you use your enrolled AMEX credit card to buy $100 in gift cards at ShopRite, you will get a $20 statement credit and $20 in free groceries.  40% off is not too shabby, right?

The other good offer is for Hampton by Hilton: $35 off $175.  You might be able to purchase a gift card from Hampton for use at other Hilton hotels.
