Requesting New Chase EMV Cards: Freedom, United MileagePlus, and Southwest Airlines Plus & Premier

(Hat Tip to Doctor of Credit’s post)

Good evening everyone, there is no doubt in my mind that I love Chase and Chase loves me.  I have quite a few credit cards (both personal and business) with Chase.  I always want the latest card design (remember the new Citi American Airlines Executive Credit Card? or the new Chase Ink Bold/Plus Business Cards?) and am a big fan of EMV (aka Chip and Signature) credit cards.  After reading Will’s recent post about the Chase United Airlines MileagePlus Credit Card adding EMV chips to their card, I decided to call Chase.

New United Airlines Promos: Transfer Miles for 0.97 CPM or Buy Miles for 2.46 CPM

Good evening everyone, United Airlines has a new transfer and buy miles promo.  I crunched the numbers and found that it is possible to transfer miles from one account to another for as little as 0.97 cents per mile (CPM).  You can also buy miles for your own United Airlines account for as little as 2.46 CPM.

Disclosure: the transfer miles and buy miles links are affiliate links processed by Points.com.

To get started, click here and then click the Transfer Miles button in the lower right corner of the page.  You can transfer up to 100,000 United Airlines miles per account per year and receive the 40% discount, but the transactions must be broken into 25,000 mile increments.

4 AMEX Offers, Discover It Cash Back, and United MileagePlusX App Updates

Good afternoon everyone, I have 4 new AMEX Offers to share, a quick update regarding the Discover It Q1 cash back category (transportation) and my results using the United MileagePlusX app.  First off, there is an awesome AMEX Offer to pay your AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, or Verizon cell phone bill.  You can get 3 $10 statement credits when you make a payment of $75 or more toward your cell phone bill.  There are also 3 AMEX Offers for Puritan’s Pride, Frette Fine Linen, and Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace (I have never heard of any of these merchants before).

Travel Challenge: Could you MS During the Week to Pay for a Weekend Trip?

Updated at 9:30am PST on 1/31/2015: the winners of the contest have been chosen.  Scroll to the bottom of this post to see who won.

This is an idea that came to me a few weeks ago, but I never gave it much thought until writing my recent tell-all MS posts (Part 1: My Manufactured Spend and Redbird Loading Strategy and Part 2: My Manufactured Spend Strategy with PayPal, Chime, Meetups, Reselling, and More!).  If you assumed the miles, points, or cash back posted right away (rather than when the statement closed), could you MS during the week to pay for a weekend trip?

The Rules

To make things more realistic, let’s ignore credit card sign up bonuses and only focus on using the credit cards and prepaid cards you currently have today.  Timing is everything, so let’s assume today is the first of the month and all your monthly MS limits have been reset (Bluebird, Serve, Redbird, PayPal, etc.).  Your net out of pocket expenses should be $100 or less.

Review: New United MileagePlusX App puts an Online Shopping Portal in your Pocket

This afternoon, United Airlines sent out an email announcing their new MileagePlusX app for Apple and Android smartphones.  I was interested in seeing how it was possible to earn 2x, 3x, and even 4x using the app, so I tested the app by using it at Office Max, Office Depot, and Panera Bread.  Check out their video demo here.
