My 2022 Midyear Review of Airline, Hotel & Credit Card Predictions

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you had a great weekend. Much like the corporate world with midyear reviews, I thought it would be fun / embarrassing to do a midyear review of My Wild and Crazy 2022 Airline, Hotel & Credit Card Predictions.  I copied the list from the previous post and will see how many predictions I got correct and how many were dead wrong.  But remember, there is still 6 months left in the year for the remaining predictions to come true…

My 2022 Airline Predictions (1 / 7)

  • Alaska Airlines or Southwest Airlines will bring back their “convert travel funds to airline miles” feature. – I still cannot believe this feature exists but Alaska and Southwest are not using it.
  • American Airlines will return as a Citi ThankYou Points airline transfer partner. – I still cannot believe that Citi can’t get American Airlines to come back to the ThankYou Points portal.
  • Avianca will give Turkish Airlines a run for their money for domestic Star Alliance awards.
  • British Airways will let you use Avios to pay the taxes, fees, and fuel surcharge portion of award tickets.
  • Delta Airlines, Southwest Airlines, or United Airlines will introduce a “Miles and Cash” payment option for award tickets (pay 10,000 miles or pay 8,000 miles + $40).
  • JetBlue will partner with another US airline for award bookings. – Yes, you can book JetBlue flights using American Airlines miles.
  • United Airlines will be a transfer partner with Brex, Citi, or American Express.

$700 Trade-In Value for my Old iPhone XS Toward New iPhone 13 Pro (Current Promos with AT&T and Verizon)

Good afternoon everyone, I hope your week is going well.  A few weeks ago, I traded in my old iPhone XS from 2018 for $700 toward a new iPhone 13 Pro.  My old iPhone was in pretty good shape but the battery wasn’t holding a great charge.  I heard about these trade-in deals with AT&T and Verizon so I did some research and found out how they worked.  Now that I understand how these trade-in deals work, I thought I would write this post to explain the process.  If you have an old iPhone or other smartphone, check with your current wireless carrier to see if they have any similar upgrade offers.  Also, these deals change on a monthly basis, so check back often to see if new deals are live.

First things first, I have AT&T, so the majority of this post talks about AT&T’s trade-in program.  Laura has Verizon, so I can confirm that the Verizon upgrade and trade-in process is very similar, which I will cover at the end of this post.  Here are the newest iPhones available on the AT&T website and you will see the banner that says “Up to $700 w/ Trade”.  The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro are almost the same size as my old iPhone XS, so I wanted my new iPhone to be the same size.  The iPhone 13 Pro has 3 cameras, a larger battery, and faster processor vs the iPhone 13 so I decided to purchase the iPhone 13 Pro.

Chase IHG Rewards Cardholders: 20% Discount on Award Stays of 1-3 Nights (Targeted?)

Good morning everyone.  I just received an email from IHG this morning about a promotion for Chase IHG Rewards Cardholders (this may be targeted, YMMV).  You can get a 20% discount on award stays of 1-3 nights when you book your reservation by February 8 and complete your stay by March 13.  I have the old $49 Chase IHG Rewards Select Credit Card, the $89 Chase IHG Rewards Premier Credit Card, and I am also an IHG Spire Elite member.  Here is the landing page for the offer, but I think the 20% discount will only show up if your account was targeted, there is no enrollment link.  I decided to do a dummy 3 night stay and a dummy 4 night stay to see what the discount looks like and how it works.

Unboxing Chase Ink Business Unlimited Credit Card: Card Art, Welcome Letter & Benefits Booklets

Good morning everyone.  Last week, I applied for the Chase Ink Business Unlimited Credit Card and I was instantly approved.  I have a few large bills to pay in the coming weeks, so I decided to apply for this card.  The current sign up bonus is 75,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards Points (equal to $750 cash back) after spending $7,500 in 3 months which fits perfectly with my upcoming purchases.  In today’s post, I wanted to share the card art, welcome letter, benefits booklet, activation process, and the process of moving credit limits around between business credit cards.

Here is the front and back of the Chase Ink Unlimited.  The card design is clean, simple and very similar to the design of the Chase Ink Cash and Chase Ink Plus.

Have you Read my Most Popular Posts of 2021?

Good morning everyone, happy New Year’s Eve!  Every year, I like to check out my stats from Google Analytics to see which blog posts were the most popular.  I created 2 lists by looking at all blog posts written in 2021 and then I looked at which posts were read the most in 2021, but written in previous years (#stayingpower).  I will list the blog posts from top to bottom based on pageviews, share the original published date, and provide a short summary of each blog post.  If you are curious, here were the most popular posts from 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
